The Danish Agency for Digital Government, established in 2011 as part of the Ministry of Finance, leads the Danish government's efforts to develop the digital public sector and the core public digital service infrastructure. It is based in Copenhagen, in the Hovedstaden region, and functions within the government administration to coordinate digital governance. As a mid-sized public sector authority, it guides the modernization and integration of Denmark's digital public services. Recent developments show a focus on citizen-facing identity tools, including an official mobile driving licence app and a national digital identity wallet, with Signicat among the partners. The agency is developing the digital ID wallet app in three phases. It has also overseen a significant MitID system update and awarded a contract to NNIT through a competitive tender as part of ongoing modernization.
