Danville-Pittsylvania Community Services, created in 1972 by a joint resolution of Danville City Council and the Pittsylvania County Board of Supervisors, is the Community Services Board that provides mental health, developmental, substance use, and prevention services to the citizens of our City and County. A 15-member Board of Directors, which is appointed by Danville City Council and the Pittsylvania County Board of Supervisors, establishes policy and direction for the Agency. The Board of Directors contracts with its Executive Director to lead, direct, and supervise the Agency's day-to-day operations. Today, Danville-Pittsylvania Community Services has grown to be a large employer in Southside Virginia, with nearly 300 staff members and an annual operating budget in excess of $23 million dollars.
