The DAWN Center for Independent Living operates as a grassroots, participant-led organization that centers people with disabilities and their families in decision-making. It supports individuals in learning about options for living, working, and recreating in their communities, with an emphasis on independence and self-advocacy. The center works to raise public awareness of the needs, rights, and aspirations of people with disabilities and facilitates community activities that expand opportunities. Aligned with the broader Independent Living movement, its goal is full integration into mainstream society to the greatest extent possible based on each person's abilities and wishes. Based in Denville, New Jersey, DAWN serves the regional community, and in May 2026 was noted to participate in Disability Resource Fair and Family Fun Day events in Morris County.
