De Novo provides free civil legal assistance and affordable psychological counseling to low-income people. Our services combat the effects of poverty and violence by helping clients and their children meet basic human needs for safety, income, health and housing. 

De Novo draws on the expertise of 140 dedicated volunteer attorneys, clinical social workers, psychologists, paralegals, interpreters, student interns, and other professionals to provide cost-effective services that serve our community’s most vulnerable members. 

We provide legal help in the areas of housing/homelessness prevention, child custody and domestic violence, immigrant and refugee rights, and disability benefits, as well as a full range of mental health and case management services to help clients cope with the emotional impact of trauma. Our holistic model of care means clients not only receive effective legal assistance, but also supportive therapy to help them navigate the enormous struggles they face.
