d+e designs are creative, ecological and evolving components of the landscape. We are an inter-disciplinary team of architects, landscape architects and urban designers dedicated to enhancing both the user’s experience and the project’s performance and value, while respecting and responding to the natural systems upon which built places depend. Principals Mike Morgan and Peter Drey draw experience from their accomplished individual careers designing buildings, parks, campuses, neighborhoods and town centers. In collaboration now we provide thoroughly green, site-based solutions in architecture, landscape architecture, urban design and planning. d+e designs take a whole systems approach, integrating site and structure. Breathing, dynamic buildings can adapt with seasons, times of day and users’ changing needs. Built places likewise demand urbanism that is sensitive to solar orientation, hydrology, landform, soils and vegetation as well as to culture – the psychology and aesthetics that make livable spaces where community can thrive. We give both these hard and soft aspects of design deep attention. The d+e design process is applicable across all project types and scales: individual structures to master-planned complexes, sites and landscapes to neighborhoods and cities. We believe in harnessing technologies for the highest performance with the least impact, in strategies that not only avoid environmental and social harm but actively improve the vitality of both the project and the community.
