The Department of Finance (DOF) for the Government of Dubai was established in 1995 under Law No. 5 to supervise the emirate's financial and accounting affairs and to issue consolidated financial statements. It develops the general annual budget for Dubai and coordinates its execution with relevant local government entities. The DOF also provides liquidity by transferring approved budget allocations to applicable government bodies and oversees the preparation and development of financial resources. It verifies the collection of general revenues and supervises the government's banking accounts. Based in Dubai on Alameda Fahidi Street, the department acts as the central financial governance body for the Dubai government, coordinating with local authorities to plan and execute the budget, manage liquidity, and oversee revenues and banking arrangements. In April 2026, the DOF partnered with RMIT Online to develop two Greening Government Microcredentials, reflecting ongoing efforts to advance sustainability-oriented public finance competencies.
