The Department of Transport and Major Infrastructure is responsible for strategic transport policy, planning, and investment in Western Australia. Collaborating with Transport Portfolio partner agencies Main Roads WA and the Public Transport Authority, we oversee the movement of people and freight through a network of roads, railways, airports, ports, shared paths, and waterways.  

With nearly 1,800 employees, we boast a diverse and inclusive community of professionals dedicated to creating a better future for Western Australia. We focus on supporting our people to bring their true self to work and be part of something REAL.  

As transport professionals we are dedicated to fostering genuine connections, growth, wellbeing, and purpose, delivering sustainable transportation solutions across Western Australia and developing strategic policies for maritime, aviation, cycling, walking, and land transport.  

As part of the Transport Portfolio, we are committed to enabling Indigenous individuals and businesses to engage in our project delivery. Our work extends into the regions, assisting disadvantaged people in remote areas of our state obtain their driver's licences and access employment and other opportunities.  

Our frontline staff provide various community transport services, including licensing for people, vehicles, and vessels; regulating WA's taxi industry; managing coastal infrastructure; ensuring water safety; and administering transport grants and subsidies.  

We aim to provide the best integrated and intelligent transport services for the State, empowering a thriving community.
