Desert Charities News operates in the philanthropic fundraising services space, delivering information focused on local charities, donors, and suppliers in the Coachella Valley. The publication, produced by a small organization, appears on a quarterly cycle and complements an online platform designed to serve charities in the region. It is based in Rancho Mirage, California, and has outlined expansion plans to include Southern California, including Los Angeles and Orange County, extending to a potential audience of more than 20,000 charities.

The outlet serves as a community resource where charities exchange ideas, connect, and increase visibility for their missions and the broader charitable sector. A distinctive feature of its operations is a policy of donating one ad for every one sold, and recent development includes the launch of a new website in 2016 to host a nonprofit directory and related content such as news, announcements, videos, sponsor information, and an events calendar.
