Design Associates Inc. is a mid-sized architecture and planning firm based in Cambridge, Massachusetts, with roots dating back to 1979 when it began offering architectural services for new construction, renovation, and restoration projects across New England. Historically associated with Nantucket Island, the firm established a second office in Cambridge in 1983 to extend its reach beyond Nantucket and serve a broader client base.

Its work covers new builds, historic restoration, and adaptive reuse, and its portfolio includes hundreds of custom single-family homes as well as hospitality, commercial, and mixed-use developments. The firm pursues a classic New England architectural language that seeks to balance historical context with contemporary living, rather than adhering to rigid formulas. Design Associates serves clients throughout New England, combining site-specific design with a long-standing regional sensibility.
