Destination Crenshaw is a shovel-ready public/private initiative in Los Angeles that aims to repair, revitalize, and sustain the Crenshaw Corridor, a historic Black business district and a focal point of the region’s largest Black community on the West Coast. Led by African American leadership on a self-determined site, the project centers Black artists and seeks to create monuments that reflect the history and ongoing contributions of Black Angelenos. It spans about 1.3 miles along Crenshaw Boulevard near the Crenshaw/LAX Metro Line and features more than 100 public art commissions, new infrastructure such as venues, parks, parking, safety improvements, and sidewalks, plus 30,000 square feet of sustainable landscaping including 822 trees. 

Positioned as a cultural campus, the initiative is intended to spur corridor revitalization, stabilization, and the creation of a job-producing hub for culture and entertainment. It targets local residents, visitors, and the roughly 5.9 million annual Metro riders who will engage with the public art and community activities. A recent development saw Destination Crenshaw participate in an immersive installation during the NAACP Image Awards weekend, underscoring ongoing programming that highlights the corridor’s cultural legacy.
