Dhofar University is a private, not-for-profit higher education institution located in Salalah, Dhofar, Oman. It was established by Ministerial Decree No. 5/2004 and began operations in September 2004 under a Board of Trustees that serves as its top policy body. The university operates five colleges—Arts and Applied Sciences, Commerce and Business Administration, Law, Engineering, and Medicine—and offers diplomas, bachelor’s degrees, and master’s programs, totaling more than 50 bachelor programs and 20 master programs. It holds national accreditation from OAAAQA, and its College of Arts and Applied Sciences has international accreditation from AQAS, with a Research Center focused on Frankincense that has patents registered to its credit and faculty publishing in Scopus-indexed journals. In 2025, the institution received Silver Accreditation from the Global Standardization and Accreditation Agency (GSAAA).
