The Diplomatic Security Foundation (DSF) was established in 1995 as a charitable organization dedicated to supporting members of the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Diplomatic Security (DS) and their colleagues in law enforcement and foreign affairs. DSF provides financial assistance—typically one-time grants—to individuals and families facing hardship or crisis. These grants are considered gifts and do not require repayment. Requests are reviewed by the DSF Board of Directors, comprised of active, retired, and former DS personnel, all of whom serve as unpaid volunteers. DSF is a registered 501 (c) (3) charity, and all contributions are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law. DSF and the Diplomatic Security Special Agents Association (DSSAA) are partners but separate identities.
