Discount Car and Truck Rentals is a Canadian vehicle rental company providing car and truck rental services to a diverse client base. Founded in 1980 in Hamilton, Ontario by Herb and Rhoda Singer, it remains privately owned and operated by the Singer family. Originally focused on the insurance replacement market, the business has expanded to serve leisure renters, commercial truck renters, dealership service centers, collision repair shops, and other customers. Today the company operates more than 300 locations across Canada and is based in North York, Ontario. It has pursued growth through programs such as Student CarShare, a campus-focused car-sharing initiative, and a 2013 alliance with a major international rental company to offer Canadians rental access in more than 130 countries. In December 2019, Discount Car and Truck Rentals was acquired by Enterprise Holdings Inc.'s Canadian subsidiary.
