DCI is a United States–based nonprofit organization focused on protecting child rights and helping families escape the poverty cycle through education, healthcare access, and income-generating opportunities. In addition to direct services, the organization connects American youth with children in other countries to raise awareness about global child welfare challenges and to foster youth leadership in humanitarian causes. The organization operates as a small-to-mid-sized nonprofit, reflecting its scale of programs and staffing. In September 2025, DCI launched Vocational Services for children with special needs, developed in partnership with the Tauri Foundation's School for Gifted Children. The organization has previously expanded its reach with international initiatives, including a Canada-based program launched in 2018.
