DMARC, the Des Moines Area Religious Council, is a Des Moines–area interfaith organization founded in 1952 that coordinates hundreds of diverse member congregations to address community needs. Classed within the civic and social sector, it collaborates with corporations, congregations, nonprofit groups, and a broad network of volunteers to advance its programs. Its DMARC Food Pantry Network is the largest in Iowa, consisting of a centralized warehouse and fourteen partner pantries serving greater Des Moines. Pantry sites are located in West Des Moines, Ankeny, Johnston, Urbandale, Clive, and Des Moines, providing food assistance to families experiencing short-term hunger. Families can receive a free, three-day supply of nutritionally balanced food once each month, with AnyTime Items available at open pantries throughout the week. DMARC is an equal opportunity provider. In January 2026, it partnered with the Iowa Food System Coalition to strengthen collaboration within a statewide network of food-system leaders.
