The DoD Cyber Crime Center (DC3) is an Armed Forces organization established in 1998 within the Department of the Air Force and is headquartered at 911 Elkridge Landing Road, Linthicum, Maryland 21090. It provides forensics on digital and multimedia materials, specialized cyber training, development of technical solutions, and cyber analytics to support DoD mission areas including cybersecurity and critical infrastructure protection, law enforcement and counterintelligence, document and media exploitation, and counterterrorism. DC3 operates through six functional organizations and maintains a workforce of about 430 personnel, drawn from DoD civilians, Air Force and Navy military personnel, and contractors. It holds designation as a federal cyber center under National Security Presidential Directive 54 / Homeland Security Presidential Directive 23 and as a DoD center of excellence for digital and multimedia forensics, and serves as the operational focal point for the Defense Industrial Base Cybersecurity Program.
