Dynamic Earth operates as Edinburgh's Earth science centre and planetarium, presenting the planet's history and its current ecological and climate challenges through interactive experiences. It houses the United Kingdom's only 6K planetarium, delivering high-resolution immersive astronomy and Earth science content. As a charitable trust, it emphasizes science engagement for schools, community groups and the public across Scotland and beyond, and also hosts conferences and corporate events with spaces for intimate meetings or gala dinners up to 550 guests.

Its primary audience includes students, educators, community groups and members of the public seeking science education and engagement, addressing topics from Earth's origins to climate change. Based in Edinburgh, Scotland, the organization is a mid-sized charitable operation within the museum and science-education sector; in 2022, Dynamic Earth appointed Mark Bishop as chief executive.
