Earshot Jazz is a Seattle-based non-profit arts and service organization established in 1984 to support jazz in the community and raise awareness of the genre. The organization presents nearly 100 concerts per year, including the Earshot Jazz Festival, the Art of Jazz series at the Seattle Art Museum, a Spring Series, the annual Duke Ellington’s Sacred Music performances, and other standalone events. Its publication program centers on a monthly newsletter containing reviews, previews, and profiles by Northwest writers, distributed free in Seattle for 30 years and available online. Education initiatives reach students through school assemblies and in-school programs, with over 43,000 students served, along with scholarships, residencies, panels, and workshops. Headquartered in Seattle at 3429 Fremont Place North Suite 309 and employing 11-50 people, Earshot Jazz engages in leadership and special projects such as commissioning new works, producing the Northwest Jazz Awards, festival bookings and consulting, artist grants, and networking with regional, national, and international jazz communities, and has developed an international reputation for the quality of its programming and services.
