The East-West Center (EWC) is an independent nonprofit established by the US Congress in 1960 to foster better relations and understanding among the United States, Asia, and the Pacific through cooperative study, dialogue, and research. It is based in Honolulu on a 21-acre campus and maintains a Washington, D.C. office to support US engagement with the Asia-Pacific region through access to its programs, expertise, policy-relevant research, and outreach activities.

The center serves as a resource for information and analysis on critical issues of common concern, bringing people together to exchange views, build expertise, and develop policy options. It has a long-standing role as a US-based institution for higher education, research, and public diplomacy in the Asia Pacific region, reflecting more than five decades of international service. In 2025, Celeste A. Connors was named president by the board.
