EcoPlanet Bamboo, based in Wilmington, North Carolina, operates in the paper and forest products sector with a focus on bamboo as an alternative fiber. The company maintains a global portfolio of bamboo projects, with farms across Central America, Africa, and Southeast Asia, and smallholder operations under development in East Africa. It promotes growing bamboo on degraded land to create a tree-free, deforestation-free source of raw material for timber-related industries. Alongside cultivation, EcoPlanet Bamboo pursues technology development intended to broaden bamboo's use across products that currently rely on wood, including pulp and paper, textiles, engineered timber, and bioenergy.

In 2020, EcoPlanet Bamboo partnered with the African Wildlife Foundation and the Rwanda Development Board to implement ecological restoration plans for Volcanoes National Park, including planting Yushania alpina.
