EDCO Collaborative is a regional education consortium comprising 17 urban and suburban school districts in the Greater Boston area and beyond. Its governance rests with a board of directors drawn from superintendents and school committee members across member districts, and programs are developed through ongoing consultation with districts and sponsoring agencies. The organization provides professional learning for educators, in-district consultation, and a range of special education and alternative education programs for students with disabilities and at-risk youth, along with transportation through a cost-effective consortium of adjacent communities and cooperative purchasing on request. It also serves youth and adults through state and federally funded programs, including the Massachusetts Migrant Education Program, Special Education Surrogate Parent Program, Wrentham Habilitative Services, Title I and Title II programs in Boston Public Schools, the EDCO Title III Consortium, and the EDCO Youth Alternative Program. Based in Bedford, Massachusetts, EDCO emphasizes interdistrict and interagency collaboration to deliver services, and it has pursued partnerships such as a 2019 collaboration with bulb Digital Portfolios to provide digital portfolios for Massachusetts students.
