The Education for Employment Foundation (EFE) was founded on the belief that when young people have satisfying jobs and the hope of building a future for themselves, they help lay the foundation for secure and peaceful societies. We currently operate in the Middle East and North Africa - the region with the world's highest youth unemployment rate. There, we are transforming the lives of young people by giving them the opportunity to work and the tools to create productive, independent livelihoods EFE currently has programs in Morocco, Egypt, Jordan, West Bank, Gaza, and Yemen. Our programs are run by independent self-sustaining foundations in each country, affiliates created by EFE working with local leaders. Training includes such diverse vocational, technical, and professional fields as accounting, air conditioner repair, land surveying, construction management, sales, and teaching, and critical soft skills such as leadership, interpersonal communications, and successful business behavior. EFE was founded by serial entrepreneur Ron Bruder as a way to increase opportunity and hope for young people in the post 9/11 world. It takes its inspiration from the example of Northern Ireland, where decades of sectarian strife have come to an end with the advent of greater economic opportunity across all Northern Irish society. Since becoming operational in 2004, EFE has impacted thousands of lives across the Middle East and North Africa.
