Eglin Air Force Base in Florida operates as the DoD's second largest test and training complex. The installation is anchored by the 96th Test Wing, which functions as the center for testing and evaluating Air Force air-delivered weapons, navigation and guidance systems, command and control systems, and Air Force Special Operations Command systems. It conducts developmental test and evaluation across the full system life cycle for a broad set of customers, including Air Force program offices, the Air Force Research Laboratory, logistics and product centers, major commands, other DoD services and U.S. government agencies, foreign military sales, and private industry. 

 The 96th Wing commander also serves as installation commander, coordinating base operating support across civil engineering, personnel, logistics, communications, medical, security, and other host services to sustain Team Eglin. The base comprises seven groups and more than 30 squadrons and divisions, and it manages roughly 120,000 square miles of over-water airspace, reflecting its expansive footprint, including the Air Force's largest fire program, emergency services, an EOD squadron, and supply functions. The installation is home to the Air Force Armament Museum and hosts the Air Force's third-largest hospital by capacity, serving more than 92,000 beneficiaries and operating the Invisible Wounds Center, in addition to supporting extensive transportation and control and reporting capabilities.
