Elering operates as the transmission system operator for electricity and gas, linking producers, network operators, and consumers into a single, managed energy system. It runs an electricity network consisting of about 5,500 kilometers of high-voltage lines and around 150 substations, with cross-border connections to Finland, Latvia, and Russia. Its gas network covers roughly 900 kilometers of pipeline, supported by three gas metering stations and nearly 40 gas distribution stations, and is connected to Latvia and Russia. In the coming years, the Estonia–Finland Balticconnector will unite the gas networks and markets of the Baltic states and Finland. Based in Tallinn, Harju County, Estonia, Elering operates in the energy infrastructure sector and serves producers, network operators, and end users, with the goal of ensuring reliable energy supply at reasonable costs. It maintains mid-sized operations and ongoing expansion, including the recent establishment of a crisis management centre in Tallinn.
