The Elgin School District is located in a rural part of Marion County in Ohio. A large district of nearly 164 square miles, Elgin is comprised mostly of farmland. The Elgin School District serves the villages of Prospect, Green Camp, New Bloomington, and LaRue, and also the western portion of Marion City and surrounding areas. The district serves approximately 1,000 students in grades kindergarten through 12. The district currently has one K-12 building which was opened in September 2013. This is the first and only campus-style school building in Marion County. The Elgin Local School District dedicated to work in partnership with students, families, and the community to prepare students to be lifelong learners through the commitment of the staff to grow collaboratively as a professional learning community. The staff of the Elgin Local School District will foster a safe environment where all students will embrace academic and personal growth, exhibit respect for self and others, collaborate as a team, and learn to be efficient problem solvers. Each of these core beliefs are staples of successful leaders. The district contracts with the North Central Ohio Educational Service Center for student support services in special education, teacher training and curriculum support. Elgin is a member of Tri-Rivers Career Center, which provides high quality vocational education programs for juniors and seniors.
