Elmwood Park Zoo is a mid-sized zoological and educational facility located in Norristown, PA, operating within the museums, historical sites, and zoos sector. Founded in 1924 after a private landowner donated property and deer to the Borough of Norristown, it has evolved from simple wire cages to more naturalistic enclosures and a focus on North and South American wildlife. The zoo is run by the Norristown Zoological Society, with a board of directors drawn from local business and civic leadership, and it holds accreditation from the Association of Zoos and Aquariums. It attracts more than half a million visitors each year, offering educational experiences in a family-oriented environment while maintaining ties to its historic facilities.

Recent developments include a major facility expansion featuring a 32,000-square-foot welcome center anchored by the Paige Engro Veterinary Health Center and a 17,000-square-foot exotic animal treatment facility. The expansion has been recognized with the AZA Facility-Innovation Award in 2025 for the Frank & Paige Engro Veterinary Health and Welcome Center, and Elmwood Park Zoo hosted its inaugural Veterinary Technician Summit in October 2025 in partnership with Zoetis.
