Emerald City Softball Association is Seattle's LGBTQ and allied softball league. Comprised of nearly 600 members on average registering to play each year, ECSA is one of the largest, most diverse, non-profit, softball leagues in the North America. ECSA prides itself on being a softball league dedicated to inclusion for anyone who wants to learn and play softball, regardless of age, gender identity, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, or physical disability. 

ECSA's mission statement, "To Instill Excellence, Community, Sportsmanship, and Acceptance to LGBTQ and Allies Through the Wonder of Softball," drives the operation of the league and stems from ECSA's core values:

Excellence: ECSA identifies Excellence as the quality of being distinctly outstanding. Our field of Excellence surpasses the game of softball, as we hold the standard to our leadership, members, relationships, and community. ECSA’s Values of Excellence include integrity, commitment, and the understanding that failure leads to success. 

Community: ECSA identifies Community as the commonality to be apart of something wonderful. The heart of ECSA, Community is the inner pieces of how the organization thrives. ECSA’s Values of Community include respect for the rights, differences, and dignity of others.

Sportsmanship: ECSA identifies Sportsmanship as the drive for fair, generous behavior and treatment of others. Sportsmanship reaches far past the ballfield, in the form of courtesy and acceptance towards others and their decisions. ECSA’s Values of Sportsmanship include honoring the rules of game in a fair method, and accountability for personal behavior.

Acceptance: ECSA identifies Acceptance as the quality of inclusivity to anyone without judgement on how they discover and express themselves, or how they choose to act. ECSA’s Values of Acceptance include the experience of discovery, self-acceptance, openness, and honesty.
