Emergent Health Partners is a nonprofit emergency medical services organization that provides advanced life support and basic life support EMS services to about 1.1 million people across 14 counties in southern Michigan. The organization is based in Ann Arbor, Michigan, with regional headquarters in Plymouth, Jackson, Battle Creek, and Monroe, and it operates more than 100 ambulances staffed by licensed EMTs and paramedics. Governance is provided by a volunteer Board of Trustees drawn from the communities it serves.

Emergent Health’s flagship EMS agency, Huron Valley Ambulance, began in 1981 and expanded to Washtenaw County and parts of Wayne and Oakland counties, followed by additional ambulance services in Jackson, Monroe, Lenawee, and Calhoun counties. In 2012, Emergent Health Partners was formed to unify these services, and in 2018 the organization extended into Michigan’s west side with LifeCare Ambulance of Battle Creek, making it the largest EMS provider in the state. All EMS operations are CAAS accredited, a distinction held by a small fraction of ambulance services in the United States, indicating a focus on up-to-date equipment, rigorous training, and high hiring standards.
