Founded by Executive Director Michelle E. Marvel in early 1997, the ERC has been tirelessly addressing the growing international need for endometriosis research, education, awareness and advocacy for many years. ERC has the privilege of collaborating with international leaders on endometriosis from every sector of the scientific, molecular research, industry, surgical and related arenas to achieve advances in the disease. We are actively involved in ongoing research, ranging from recruitment for clinical trials on proprietary new treatments to participation in genetic studies. We were also involved in the *world’s first* self-collection kit to attempt to provide a screening system for endometriosis more than a decade ago. Additionally, we were the first endometriosis organization in the world to recognize, support and promote the then-landmark research into Aromatase Inhibitors and Angiogenesis. Similarly, ERC is a global leader in awareness, having collaborated on countless books, publications and videos, as well working with extended media and the public. Ours was also the first endometriosis advocacy organization in the country to undertake the task of raising awareness among policymakers - subsequently resulting in the passage of the first formal awareness legislation in the U.S., and later, an official Legislative Toolkit on the disease.
