Insights

Data ecosystems ENTSO-E operates and expanding data platforms such as Capacitypedia, the Transparency Platform, and Technopedia to share grid hosting and network information across Europe. This creates demand for integrated data feeds, APIs, and analytics services that help TSOs and DSOs make faster, data-driven decisions while maintaining security and governance.

Offshore expansion With Offshore Network Development Plans and a push to deploy more offshore wind, ENTSO-E needs advanced grid modeling, planning tools, and OT/IT integration capabilities. This presents opportunities to offer grid software, optimization services, and engineering support for offshore connections and future capacity forecasting.

Regulatory enablement ENTSO-E's work on network codes and pan-European planning requires robust regulatory workflow automation, multilingual collaboration, and compliant document management. Sales opportunities exist for RegTech, content management, and cross-border collaboration platforms tailored to large, multi-country energy bodies.

Secure cloud The existing technology stack leverages cloud and security services such as Azure Active Directory and Cisco networking. This indicates openness to enhanced cybersecurity, identity governance, zero-trust architectures, and cloud security solutions that protect critical grid data and enable secure collaboration.

Stakeholder engagement ENTSO-E actively convenes TSOs, DSOs, EU institutions, and industry groups through events and joint initiatives. There is a clear need for scalable stakeholder portals, event-tech, and analytics on engagement effectiveness that integrate with ENTSO-E platforms.

ENTSO-E is the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity, based in Brussels, coordinating a broad cross-border view of the electricity grid. It brings together 40 transmission system operators from 36 countries, extending beyond EU borders, and was established in 2009 under the EU’s Third Package to foster liberalisation of electricity and gas markets and to harmonise cross-border energy flows. The organization functions as a forum for market participants to align transmission operations with the goal of completing and ensuring the internal energy market and supporting Europe’s energy and climate objectives.

ENTSO-E develops and coordinates key planning and standardization activities, including long-term network development plans (TYNDPs), pan-European network codes, and the coordination of research and development and system adequacy analyses. Through these deliverables, it contributes to building a large, integrated electricity market with broad benefits for Europe’s economy and energy security. A recent development is the May 2026 launch of Capacitypedia, created in collaboration with the DSO Entity to improve access to grid hosting capacity information across Europe.
