The Epilepsy Foundation Eastern Pennsylvania is a regional nonprofit that supports people with epilepsy and their families through education, advocacy, and direct services. For about 50 years it has served roughly 15,000 individuals annually within eastern Pennsylvania. Its service area includes Philadelphia and 17 additional counties, a region of more than six million residents, and it offers programs spanning community education, educational conferences and workshops, seizure training, and referrals for legal and medical needs. Operating in the nonprofit health sector, the organization concentrates on people living with epilepsy and their caregivers, with goals to reduce seizures and SUDEP and to improve daily living and access to care. A recent development is a 2023 collaboration with the CDC to expand care access and digital resources and to train hundreds of thousands of people in seizure recognition and first aid.
