Esperanza Health Center, founded in 1989, is a faith-based, bilingual health provider operating three sites in north Philadelphia: Hunting Park, Kensington, and the Fifth Street area. The center aims to deliver affordable, high-quality primary care and support services, with care offered in English and Spanish and aligned with its mission to serve in Jesus’ name. Patients are welcome regardless of race, ethnicity, income, or insurance status, with a sliding fee scale for uninsured individuals. Its service mix encompasses a broad range of integrated primary care and wellness offerings, including family and internal medicine, pediatrics, OB/GYN, dental care, behavioral health, social services, on-site medication dispensing, comprehensive HIV/AIDS medical services, phlebotomy, fitness and nutrition programs, chaplaincy, and substance use treatment including medication-assisted treatment for opioid use disorder. The CORE, Esperanza's community wellness center, opened in Kensington in 2022 to host wellness, fitness, and other health programs. In 2022, Esperanza served nearly 16,000 patients through more than 67,000 visits, reflecting its role in North Philadelphia's healthcare landscape.
