Espy Lumber Company is a wholesale supplier of building materials serving the Lowcountry, with its corporate headquarters in Okatie and an operation on Hilton Head Island. It was founded in 1958 by Wesley Espy, originally supplying concrete to resort developers and later broadening into lumber and other building materials as Hilton Head's population grew. Today it stands as the island’s only full-line building materials provider. The company has expanded its footprint with a master-planned Arrow Road site and a second yard at the Okatie/Cherry Point area to support growing construction activity. Since a 1979 acquisition, leadership has guided Espy Lumber toward becoming a regional building-supply resource in the Lowcountry, with the Okatie headquarters continuing as the corporate base.
