Essex County Country Club, founded in May 1887, is the oldest club in New Jersey and the sixth oldest in the United States. It has historical ties as an original member of the MGA and NJSGA and was among the 25 founding clubs of the USGA. Its golf course blends design elements from Tillinghast, Raynor and Banks and is regarded as one of the region’s notable layouts. In addition to golf, the club provides facilities such as a pool, Har-Tru tennis courts, and comprehensive practice areas, supporting a diverse family membership. It operates programs for youth, including a summer sports camp and junior golf, and hosts family-oriented activities. In 2022, the club expanded its offices to Livingston, New Jersey, signaling broader regional presence while remaining based in West Orange.
