Ethics Metrics’ focus is educating and empowering U.S. Depository Institution Holding Company (DIHC) investors, including other DIHCs, with better research that brings transparency to asymmetric information in order to foster market discipline and market integrity.

Ethics Metrics is a boutique risk rating firm specializing in discovering, measuring and rating undisclosed governance, compliance and related risks, including potential fraud and systemic risks, in 100 large DIHCs, and evaluating the potential impact of those risks on over 1,100 global registered investment advisers (RIAs). About 80% of the $16 trillion of total assets in the U.S. banking industry are now owned by the 100 large DIHCs, up from 55% in 2005. RIAs own about 76% of the $1.9 trillion of public equity of the largest DIHCs. 

Model inputs include publicly available data from federal regulators to determine levels of compliance with (1) federal banking laws and regulations on safety and soundness, as well as, source of strength, (2) federal securities laws and regulations on ethics, disclosure of material information, and internal control over financial reporting, and (3) financial data and disclosures by DIHCs and federal bank regulators.
