Eton College is a historic boys’ boarding school in the United Kingdom, founded in 1440 by King Henry VI, located across the River Thames from Windsor in Berkshire. With around 1,300 pupils, it remains one of the leading independent schools in the UK, offering a broad education that emphasizes academic excellence. The school centers on a commitment to learning and independent thought, delivered by teachers who engage students inside and outside the classroom. A wide co-curricular program supports students, with 25 boarding houses led by House Masters and Dames that foster community and character development. Approximately 20% of pupils receive financial aid, reflecting support provisions within its independent education model. Eton College is pursuing expansion through the Eton-Star Partnership, planning new sixth-form colleges in Oldham and Dudley by 2027. In December 2025, it was named the third-best independent secondary school in its region, highlighting its ongoing reputation.
