The Eureka Fire Protection District is committed to delivering the highest quality of fire protection, prevention, education, community service, and effective mitigation of fire, rescue, emergency medical, and other hazardous situations while remaining economically responsible to the community. Eureka Fire Protection District proudly protects 28,000 people living in an area of 82 square miles. We operate out of 3 stations that protect a primarily residential area. Our department is a public department whose members are on a combination of paid and volunteer status. We have an ISO rating of 4. The Eureka Fire Protection District is located in Southwest St. Louis County and Northern Jefferson County, which is approximately thirty (30) miles southwest of St. Louis, Missouri. We are a truly unique Department providing EMS, Fire, and Rescue service, to an Urban and Rural community comprising of 82 square miles, the largest in St. Louis County. Our Department is a "Combination" type department, utilizing both volunteer (reserve) and career staff. We have nearly one hundred (100) members including Paramedics, EMTs, Firefighters, Support Team, and an Explorer Post. We have a very diverse area to cover for our services which includes Interstate highway and back roads with one lane bridges, a major amusement park, a rare Midwestern ski resort, the 5th largest Boy Scout camp in the United States, thirty-seven (37) miles of rivers, a state medium security prison, two major railroad lines, numerous state and county parks, and six golf courses. We respond to a very wide variety of emergencies from urban violence to wilderness emergencies.
