Everybody Wins! Iowa is a literacy and mentoring organization that is dedicated to increasing children’s success in school through reading and mentoring experiences with caring volunteers. Everybody Wins! Iowa was brought to Iowa in 2002 by Sen. Tom Harkin. During its first year, Everybody Wins! Iowa served 15 children in three schools. Today, Everybody Wins! Iowa serves more than 500 children in 20 schools and community organizations. Power Read is Everybody Wins! Iowa’s signature program. Once a week, volunteer reading mentors travel to nearby elementary schools or community organizations for an hour of one-on-one reading with a student. The program has expanded to 34 sites in Polk, Dallas, Warren, and Marion counties in Central Iowa.
