Exegenesis Bio is a clinical-stage gene therapy company based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, with operations in Boston and China. The company develops genetic medicines for eye, CNS and liver-directed diseases, applying proprietary capsids, promoters, and protein engineering to enable targeted delivery. Two programs have reached the clinic: an AAV-based therapy for Type I Spinal Muscular Atrophy in China, and an rAAV therapy for neurovascular wet age-related macular degeneration in the United States. To support its development work, Exegenesis Bio has established cGMP manufacturing facilities capable of producing viral vectors at large scale and plasmids in smaller fermenters. In May 2026, the company participated in the ASGCT annual meeting to present data on its delivery platform and on a BBB-penetrating AAV capsid.
