Exit Dance Theatre is a modern dance company based in Newburyport, Massachusetts. Founded in 1987 by a group of artists that included Susan Atwood, Fontaine Dollas Dubus, Cheryl Fisher Schwind, Stephen Haley and Linda Lazzaro Mangini, the company blends theater techniques, improvisation, and collaboration to expand movement beyond traditional styles. The approach emphasizes embodiment and image-driven storytelling rather than purely intellectual processes. Exit performs on the North Shore and in Boston, often incorporating live music into its works and collaborating with musicians such as Danny Harrington and Ronnie Earl. It has staged a range of pieces, from myth-inspired performances to contemporary character studies, and has taken part in notable productions such as opening for Anna Smulowitz's Terezin in Auschwitz.
