Experimental Sound Studio is a nonprofit organization based in Chicago, Midwest, that supports the evolution of art through sound. It serves as an international hub for sonic experimentation, nurturing artists and presenting new works through production, presentation, education, and preservation. It targets artists and audiences engaged in sound-based expression, fostering collaboration within an inclusive environment that welcomes diverse perspectives. In 2020, ESS launched The Quarantine Concerts, a virtual series that broadcast nearly 500 hours of live music to broaden access during the pandemic. The organization has formed partnerships with Joliet Junior College and Joliet Museum, and with Ithaca Underground to extend its reach and support cross-institutional projects.
