Eyebeam is a nonprofit studio in the artists and writers sector that supports collaborative experiments with technology aimed at a more imaginative and just world. It provides support for artists' research, protection, and education, helping ideas move from concept to realization. Guided by openness, invention, and justice, Eyebeam emphasizes an open-source ethos and the belief that technology created by artists can advance equality and democracy. Founded in 1998 by John S. Johnson, Eyebeam began in a warehouse in Chelsea, Manhattan, and is now based in Brooklyn at 199 Cook Street, New York 11206. The organization supports over 125 artists each year through its programming, creating space for experimentation and dialogue about the role of technology in culture. In April 2026, Eyebeam announced the appointment of Julia Kaganskiy as Executive Director.
