Eyevensys is a private, clinical-stage biotechnology company based in Paris, in the Île-de-France region, focused on therapies for eye diseases. It is developing the EyeCET platform to enable sustained intraocular production of therapeutic proteins using a safe, non-viral electro-transfection approach to deliver genetic material into eye tissues. By instructing ciliary muscle cells to produce therapeutic proteins locally and over extended periods, Eyevensys aims to improve treatment tolerability and patient adherence. The lead program, EYS606, targets non-infectious uveitis and has received Orphan designation from the EMA, with regulatory clearance to begin a Phase I/II trial and a multicenter study initiated in France and the UK. In May 2022, Eyevensys announced development of EYS809, a DNA plasmid encoding aflibercept and decorin for wet age-related macular degeneration. The company remains focused on non-viral gene therapies for ophthalmic disease and operates with a relatively small team based in Paris.
