Faith in Action is a national network of faith-based community organizations that develops and supports innovative solutions to challenges in urban, suburban, and rural communities. Founded in 1972 and formerly known as PICO National Network, it operates through 44 affiliated federations and eight statewide networks, with a presence in 150 cities across 17 states. The network includes more than 1,000 congregations representing about 40 denominations and faiths in its work. Based in Washington, DC, Faith in Action pursues efforts to expand access to health care, improve public schools, enhance neighborhood safety, and advance affordable housing, redevelopment, and democratic participation. As a non-profit organization, it coordinates a broad, faith-based effort designed to unite people across region, race, class, and religion. A notable recent development is the 2022 launch of the Rise + Vote initiative to mobilize civic engagement ahead of elections.
