Hormones regulate aging, growth, reproduction, and immune functions of the body. A drop or imbalance in our hormone levels, often triggered by stress and age, has a negative impact on our overall health: Loss of muscle mass, decreased motivation, decreased libido, painful intercourse, loss of bone density, vaginal dryness, accelerated aging of the skin, to name a few. These symptoms add stress to the body and can influence other target organs, such as adrenal glands and thyroid. We can help avoid or reverse these conditions by restoring hormones to their optimal levels. This requires a balance of estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, and DHEA. Just as a delicate balance of the hormones is important, the type of the hormones used is critical. Synthetic or animal-derived hormones are inflammatory to the body, whereas bioidentical hormones are plant-derived and chemically identical in molecular structure to the hormones our body produces naturally.
