Family Support Services provides support to families experiencing a variety of trauma. These include grandparents suddenly caring for young children, parents raising children with disabilities, and families facing homelessness. Through our programs, we are able to serve families across Alameda, Contra Costa, and San Francisco Counties. Our programs are: Respite Care Program - specialized care for children designed to give parents and other caregivers a break from the daily demands of caring for their children. Family Preservation Program - home-based, intensive case-management for families experiencing stressors which have been shown to increase the likelihood of child abuse or neglect. Growing Up Strong - works with families with children who are experiencing emotional, behavioral, or social challenges at home or at school, or who have experienced trauma as the result of family or community violence. Kinship Support Services Program - provides an array of services for kinship caregivers, including crisis intervention, support group, workshops and training, and assistance with legal guardianship. Kinship Youth Program - serves children and youth ages 6-18 who are being raised by a kinship caregiver: a grandparent, aunt, sibling, or other relative caregiver.
