Farmer Companies is a wholesale building materials provider based in Jefferson City, Missouri. Its roots go back to the late 1940s, when Elliott Farmer, Sr. established ready-mix and asphalt businesses, including Farmer’s Concrete, Cole County Industries, and Jefferson Asphalt. The company expanded through vertical integration and diversification into related industries as the second and third generations took leadership, resulting in operations across multiple markets and states. The organization employs a large workforce to support its activities. Historically focused in the Midwest, Farmer Companies has extended its reach with strategic moves, including the 2023 acquisition of Folsom Ready Mix and corresponding expansion into Northern California. The changes align with ongoing growth under the third generation while continuing to serve wholesale construction-materials customers across new regions.
