Farmshare Austin is a small nonprofit farming organization based in Cedar Creek, Texas, operating a 10-acre certified organic farm that supplies produce to its food access programs and to local vendors. Its mission is to build a healthy, just and equitable local food system by expanding community access to food and by supporting new farmers. The organization furthers this goal through an educational program called Farmer Starter, which teaches sustainable growing methods alongside practical farming business skills, with crops produced in the program routed to food access initiatives and wholesale partners. It also operates Fresh For Less, a program created with the City of Austin and Sustainable Food Center to reduce barriers to healthy food for residents in eastern Austin and Travis County through mobile markets and curbside delivery. Its customers include residents of food-insecure communities in Central Texas as well as aspiring farmers seeking training. Based in the Austin area, Farmshare Austin operates as a 501c3 nonprofit and collaborates with city and community partners to support its programs.
