FarOut, formerly Guthook Guides, develops mobile navigational guides for long-distance adventurers. Founded by Paul Bodnar and Ryan Linn after they met on the Pacific Crest Trail, the company released its first guide for iPhone in 2012 and now offers more than 100 detailed guides for hiking, biking, and paddling worldwide. Headquartered in Denver, Colorado, FarOut operates with a small team of experienced backpackers and hikers and is owned by Atlas Guides DE, Inc.; it partners with trail organizations to produce high-quality navigational content and is expanding its bikepacking and road cycling guides, with a focus on Australian routes. Its products serve long-distance travelers who rely on navigational tools to plan and traverse extensive routes. In January 2023 the company launched an affiliate program to enable retailers, rental companies, tour operators, and media outlets to sell its whitewater rafting guides.
