Farrington Nature Linc’s mission is to enhance the well-being of children from low-income communities through a connection with the natural world. Our 75 acres of woodlands, fields and ponds near Boston are dedicated to providing respite and inspiration for children who might not otherwise have this opportunity. We give kids access to nature in three ways: Field trips on our property in Lincoln, MA where we host visits by groups of children from Boston, Cambridge, and other neighboring urban communities for a day of exploration, learning, and fun. Afterschool programs that connect youth with nature near their school one day a week for 8 week cycles. Our new Teen Leadership program where we hire teens from the communities we serve to help run our summer field trip program and provide them opportunities throughout the school year to become leaders in their community. In all our programs, youth are given the chance to have fun engaging in nature, to be creative and to learn how to take appropriate risks. They learn to see themselves in a new way- braver, stronger and more sure of themselves!
